ABOUT ME
My name is Josephin Ritschel. I work with water and the land to restore natural balance and I look forward to meeting you.
Born in Germany, currently spending most of my time in southern Portugal. Always keen to travel to breathtaking landscapes.
My Story
My background is in visual communication and illustration, a field I deeply enjoyed for its creativity and expression. At the same time, my heart has always been drawn to nature conservation and rewilding.
Over the years, I followed this interest through various shorter courses, until in 2025 I made a clear decision to fully commit and joined the intensive six-month Water Cycle Restoration Core Course by Water Stories.
Since completing the program, I am building this professional path with great dedication and enthusiasm. I now feel able to fully devote my work to what truly matters to me, and I’m curious to see where this journey will lead.
Currently in an early stage of building an implementation portfolio. While my expertise lies in land reading and water-based design, I currently deepen my practical experience through guided projects and collaboration on site.
WORK TOGETHER
My Vision
My vision is to restore ecosystems where natural balance has been lost — which today is the case in many landscapes.
Human intervention was not wrong in itself. We shaped the land to survive, to grow food, and to build communities. But in many places, we disrupted natural water cycles and ecological processes. Today, we are experiencing the consequences through flooding, droughts, fires, and degraded soils.
I believe that it is possible to meet human needs while restoring healthy ecosystems — not by working harder against nature, but by learning to work with it again. By reading the land and understanding how water wants to move, we can create landscapes that are resilient, productive, and alive.
My work is guided by the idea that regeneration is not a sacrifice, but an opportunity — for the land, for water, and for the future we are shaping together.
